The installation of solar panels has begun at the “Shafag” Solar Power Plant, a project financed by the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF), bp, SOCAR Green, and MVM.

Located in the liberated Jabrayil district, the plant is planned to have a capacity of 240 MW and is expected to generate approximately 500 GWh of renewable electricity annually.

The “Shafag” Solar Power Plant is intended to supply electricity to the Jabrayil district grid, while also meeting the energy needs of the Sangachal Terminal through renewable energy sources. The project aims to advance the development of Azerbaijan’s green energy sector, realize the economic potential of the liberated territories, and strengthen environmental sustainability.

At present, 350 people are employed under the project, including 123 residents of the liberated territories.
