Shahbulag Mining

STATUS: ONGOING

The Shahbulag stone quarry, operating during the USSR, was one of the leading enterprises of the region. In 1991, it was planned to saw 16 million blocks in 7 areas. However, during the first Karabakh war, that area passed under the enemy’s control.

ABDF invested in this project in 2022. The project consists of organizing the production of sawstone by exploiting the Shahbulag limestone deposit. The purpose of the project is to meet the demand for sawstone as a result of the construction works in the Karabakh region. The project has the following advantages:

  • To meet the demand for sawstone in the liberated territories in an economically efficient and profitable way
  • Lower logistics costs and thus more competitive product prices
  • Creating new jobs in the region and thus increasing employment
  • Acting as a raw material supply for the construction of other construction industries
